Looking for a change? Looking to use your experience and skills in a challenging, rewarding, and stable environment?The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is accepting applications for the position of Web Architect to plan, develop, and maintain the district's award-winning web presence. We're looking for someone with advanced working knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining database driven web pages. The district's web site(www.chccs.k12.nc.us) supports over 100,000 user sessions a month and is an integral component in the district. The position also manages an active intranet, supporting internal communication and business processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, graphics communication, or a related field.
2. Possess an advanced working knowledge of current web technologies and programming.
3. Considerable experience with web site design and maintenance(knowledge of HTML, ASP, SQL, CSS, DreamweaverMX, Photoshop, Flash,Fireworks).
4. Experience with Database Design and Normalization. Must have advanced knowledge of SQL Server and Access including writing stored procedures that intergrate with ASP web pages.
5. Must understand corss-platform web site development and testing procedures.
6. Experience developing cross platform CD ROM presentations using FlashMX and Director.
7. Ability to edit and produce short video clips as needed for web or CD presentation.
8. Considerable experience with MS Office Applications(including Access, Excel, and Word).
9. Possess the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
10. Possess excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
11. Ability to develop new web applications using ASP and SQL server for processes needed in house as necessary.
12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:
To plan, develop, design, establish, and maintain Internet sites for CHCCS departments and schools using technical knowledge and communications expertise to achieve operational, organizational, and information goals.

REPORTS TO:Chief Technology Officer

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, develops, and manages the school district's Intranet web sites.
Designs and Develops web pages and programs using HTML, ASP, SQL, CSS, stored prcedures and SQL Server.
Creates graphical designs and optimizes pictures as necessary.
Maintains the standard for web site appearance, structure and content aging.
Writes,or edits and formats, copy to present messages effectively.
Carries out the functions of Web Architect to reduce the amount of technical expertise needed by district staff, or trains staff to operate and update sites on an independent basis.
Provides marketing amd promotion services such as registration of site with search engines and directories.
Develops multimedia-marketing materials for Human Resources and other departments as needed.
Creates on-line learning tools using screen capture technology.
Converts documents to PDF format as necessary.
Updates and expands information on web site to attract repeat users.
Constantly updates web information to keep site current.
Keeps up to date in web technologies.
Manages passwords and web site security.
Interacts with remote hosting company as necessary to ensure web site reliability.

Interact/Coordinate with staff.
Develop web solutions that support organizational goals.
Works closely with all support departments and provides guidance, training, and assistance to school-based personnel who maintain or build school-specific web sites.
Support district staff on web design questions.
Meets on a regular basis with department heads/school web masters to evaluate and modify sites.
Interview staff on an ongoing basis to find ways to better use web technologies to support their work.
Works with Superintendents office to post new information and reports in a timely manner.
Work with all locations to ensure calendar and contact information is up-to-date on the web site.

Special projects
Works with CHCCS administration on special web projecs.
Works with the district e-mail listserv.
Manages staff and student communication databases.
Performs other duties as needed.
